A Girl and Her Rocks…Inspired by the Ozark Mountains

I grew up in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas where my family farmed, nurtured, and appreciated the beauty of the natural world and all she had to offer. Many of the designs I’ve incorporated in my jewelry today reflect my earliest memories of observing and exploring the intricate details of nature found in the flowers, grasses, and stones I’d collect while working and playing on that farmland.

The fossils and botanicals I’ve spent the past several years collecting, molding, and designing into focal pieces are wonderous in their imperfections, which we can all relate to. I want each and every piece of jewelry I create to tell a story exalting the intricate details of the natural world, as well as resonate a call to preserve those resources that are so dear to each and every one of us.

My Metalsmithing Journey…so far

In 2016 I began my journey with precious metal clay, lovingly exploring its adaptability and illumination of the most minute details. During the Summer of 2018 I apprenticed with an amazingly talented local metalsmith who taught me the skills needed to incorporate stones that would add color, depth, and accentuation to the textures I’d already found comfortability in. Many skills I’ve researched myself, as well as gleaning from talented artists whose paths I’ve been fortunate enough to cross. Today, I research and explore (through much trial and error) techniques in my own studio on the Elk River arm of Grand Lake in Northeast Oklahoma.
